New Cover Concept

Working on a variant cover concept for the first issue of Good Grip before I go to print.

Quick Backstory:
Benjamin Price (aka “Guile Good”) is America’s most sought after male star.  Through creative PR and fatal charm, he’s managed to maintain the admiration of his audience while starring in “classy pornography”.  He’s the son of a cryogenically frozen Mad Scientist, who spent a fortune on the dark sciences.  But not only did Benjamin inherit his father’s billion dollar estate, he inherited his father’s hidden agenda.  He just doesn’t know it yet.

But let’s flashback a few hundred centuries, back to the time where the gods walked the Earth. The guy we know as “Ben” was then known as Gilgamesh.  The 2/3 god, 1/3 human king of Uruk.  We thought the story ended when he died, but it turns out it’s picking up again with Good Grip.  And so now…

The Cover
We see a large bedroom.  A nice one.  One that you might imagine Marilyn Monroe to have woken up in.  The room is dark, but it’s light outside.  We can tell by the sunlight sneaking in behind the curtains.  If we can see part of the bed, it’s unmade.  If we can see the entire bed, there’s someone still under the covers.  But it isn’t Ben.  He’s woken up and is standing in the center of the room.

Ben’s back is toward us and he’s in his underwear.  He’s perplexed, staring at a larger than full size mirror.  It’s broken, split haphazardly down the middle.  He reaches out to touch it, but the mirror has its own agenda.  It wants to tell him a secret.

Split down the middle, half of his reflection is exactly what we’d expect to see; his curious face, his bare chest, the same underwear.  The other half is another version of Ben, from a time long ago.  The other half is Gilgamesh, the demigod King of Uruk.  He looks the same as Ben, but he glows and wears the garments of a god.  And he isn’t in a bedroom, he’s in a castle made of gold.
